We had a fantastic Christmas. Last week Saturday my aunt Myrtle and my parents came over, and we exchanged gifts and had our annual dinner of pig in the blankets, homemade soup, and jello. I was so happy that our piano was delivered only hours earlier, and we were all able to sing Christmas carols while Aunt Myrt played. I am really looking forward to continuing that tradition. On Sunday we packed up the car and headed for Canada where we spent 5 days with Jerry's family. Jerry's sister Kim hosted Christmas Eve day which is when we had the kids open all their gifts. Then Christmas Eve night we put 8 of the 10 kids to bed at Jerry's parents house, and the 10 adults exchanged gifts and played games. Christmas Day was church, lots of food, and fun outside for the kids. I am so thankful for my brother-in-laws who still love to play in the snow! On Wednesday both the guys and the girls had some time away to enjoy a movie and fellowship without the young ones. We arrived safely home this afternoon. It was great to be able to unpack and put stuff away and not be ten o'clock at night! So now this weekend we are gearing up for two birthday parties, a work get together, and 2 family parties. 2007 is winding down.
To conclude, my aunt Myrtle wrote us a poem in her Christmas card which is absolutely beautiful. I wanted to include it here and wish everyone a very merry Christmas and happy new year!
Christmas Gifts.
From a lowly stable
Came a heavenly King
One who would rule
The hearts of men
In this darkened world of sin.
The wise men brought
Him earthly gifts-
gold, frankincense and myrrh
But He gave us the heavenly gift
Of Life forevermore.
When Jesus is our Savior
Born on that Christmas Day
He gives us Peace
Within our hearts
And Joy upon our way.
