Field trip

On the hayride with daddy and her classmates
When I asked Erin who her friend was she replied, "I don't know her name. She's just my friend."

Erin had her first preschool field trip today to a greenhouse/pumpkin patch. Jerry was able to go with her class. One of the highlights of the trip for Erin was that she got to ride the bus which is a first for her. Her trip today reminded me of the story her preschool teacher told me a few years ago. The class was going on that same trip to the pumpkin patch, but a storm was predicted to come in, and the bus driver did not feel comfortable driving the class and getting stuck in bad weather. So instead they sent a parent out to pick up a bunch of pumpkins which the teachers scattered all over the soccer field behind the school. Then they loaded up all the preschoolers on the bus, drove around the school parking lot three times, and let all the kids off behind the school at the "pumpkin patch". The preschoolers didn't know that they were still at school because they were too little to see out the windows. Each child got to pick a pumpkin, and then they loaded everyone back on the bus, rode around the parking lot again, and arrived back at school. She said the lesson she learned from that was to always keep it simple. The kids were just as happy as if they had been to the biggest pumpkin patch in the state.

What a lucky girl that her Daddy could go with her on the trip!! CUTE! I'm sure they had a great time. LOVE the bus story, so typically innocent of children.... Awesome, Aunt Kim would love to go to the pumpkin patch with you sometime Erin!!
