Spring Break in Chicago

This past week we were off from school so we combined a stay-cation with a mini trip to Chicago.  It was the perfect mix of getting away and also being able to stay home and relax.  On Thursday we headed out to Shaumburg, IL which is Ben's most favorite place on earth because it has Legoland!  The girls even enjoyed themselves, and we had a fun morning/early afternoon looking at all the cool Lego displays, building with Legos, watching the 4D Lego movie, and of course shopping in the store.  After we left Legoland, we checked into our hotel and then walked to Navy Pier where we met some friends and visited the Children's Museum which was insanely busy.  On Friday we went to the Museum of Science and Industry and then later on the girls and I had tea at the American Girl store.  On Saturday we ventured to Lincoln Park Zoo which was awesome!   The kids really got to see the animals up close, and they were able to see giraffes and polar bears which we don't have at our zoo here.  Tomorrow we're gearing up for back to school, but only 8 more weeks until summer!

At Legoland...the first stop of our trip.  Ben would have been perfectly happy going home after this.

Riding the Lego ride with daddy.  Again...so happy.

At the Museum of Science and Industry.  The more you moved in front of these "people" the more they laughed.  The kids had fun with this.

 The Wright Brothers plane!

We took a tour of the German U-505 submarine.  It was very interesting!

Having tea with my favorite girls at the American Girl store

This is sort of like Where's Waldo, but it's Where's Jerry?  Can you spot him in the picture?  It was so crazy busy.  There was always about 50 people in our hotel pool.

Not the greatest picture, but it cracks me up.  Erin was the monkey whisperer.  Wherever she went, the monkeys would also go.

 Giraffes up close!

We loved watching the polar bear swim around.

I love this picture, because it shows Ben's reaction as the polar bear got close!
