These 3 lovely ladies adore their big brother.
Even though it was Sunday Ben insisted we had mail and made Jerry go out to the mailbox where he had put a picture he had drawn in the mailbox.
Ben gave Jerry a vase he had painted with some paper flowers. He had actually given this to me about a month ago at the Mother's Tea for preschool, but when he saw it sitting on the counter he grabbed it and gave it to Jerry. Erin found a picture she painted about a year ago that was on our shelf. She presented that to Jerry. We like to regift around here!
Mmmmm, chocolate cake!
Jerry turned the big 4-0 this past Sunday. I invited his family up to surprise him, and we had a very fun weekend together. My parents invited Jerry and me out for a late lunch on Saturday, and the plan was that the whole family would be there. We walked in and sat down at a 4 top with my parents. Jerry's parents, sisters, and one brother-in-law were seated at a table just behind us, but Jerry never noticed. Of course I was grinning ear to ear and taking random pictures of Jerry sitting there talking to my parents. A few minutes later the waitress came over and said that there was another party who wanted us to join them. Jerry turned around and looked, turned back, and then did a double take. I think it took a few minutes for it to register who those people were! We had a delicious lunch together. They all stayed through Sunday afternoon, so we were able to celebrate with lots of cake and ice cream over those next 24 hours! Happy Birthday Jerry! You are an amazing husband and father, and I can now say I've known and loved you for half your life. I am so thankful for all that you do for our family, for your love, for your work ethic, for your understanding of me better than anyone. I pray that the Lord gives us many more birthdays to celebrate together....here's to the next 40!
