This past Saturday we headed out to Grand Haven with our friends the Elgersma's. My parents were out of town and told us we could use their boat which we happily agreed to do! Lake Michigan was almost like glass so we called up our friends the Klavers in Holland who took their boat north up the coast while we ventured south. We met up at a sandy beach area (Rosy Mounds) and anchored the boats. The tricky part was getting into shore. With water temperatures barely hitting 50 degrees none of us were too eager to get wet. Luckily the Klavers brought along their awesome tube, which is really sort of like a giant reclining couch. We used that for a lot of the transportation back and forth to the boat. The kids were all able to go tubing as well which was a definite highlight for them. We spent the afternoon hanging out on the beach, eating, and talking. The kids explored a little bit and dug some huge holes in the sand. A great way to end the summer... sniff, sniff :(
