Memorial Day Weekend

Reunion! Claire and Erin's dear friends, Jaclyn and Sidney came to visit on Saturday morning. We used to be neighbors, but last year their family moved to Indiana. Their mom Cindy and I used to do a swap and watch each other's kids while the other worked so you could say that they sort of have a sister type relationship. It was fun to hang out on Saturday, and we hope to make it down to Indy soon!

Saturday evening we visited Jerry's Uncle Bill and Aunt Jenny who live in Holland. We only see them about twice a year, but it's hilarious how much the kids take to Jerry's uncle because he looks just like Jerry's dad. In fact, they call him grandpa. We had a yummy meal and a fantastic time.

On Monday I took the girls to something that I don't think even qualifies as a parade. I drove the whole 20 minutes to Caledonia because it was the closest parade. The girls had their plastic Meijer bags in hand to collect the loads of candy they expected to be thrown at them. And here is why the parade was lame: We parked and walked about a block and a half away from Main Street. The parade started at noon, and we were all back in the car, buckled in, and pulling out onto Main Street at 12:12. There were exactly two pieces of cheap candy in Claire and Erin's Meijer bags. The day did get better and we were all able to go swimming in the afternoon. When the day was all done Claire told me, "You know what my favorite part of today was mommy? Well, it wasn't the parade." Funny!
