What I love (and sometimes hate) about Ikea

Brenda and I made the journey to Canton this weekend to check out the new Ikea. We were also able to hit the Howell outlets on the way home so it was a well rounded shopping experience. While shopping at Ikea I made a few observations that caused me to love and at the same time detest the store. Sometimes I really despise how I get sucked into all that consumerism of wanting more and thinking I really need something! Here are the reasons why I love and sometimes hate Ikea:

1. There is no place else that you can buy bamboo, bibs, and bedding under one roof. Brenda and I purchased all of the above.
2. They actually make me think I could survive in a living space of 282 feet and like it. All of their "model" apartments are very fun to look at.
3. Where else can I buy rocks and think I'm getting a bargain? They were $1.99 a bag, and I bought 3.
4. I found myself continually gravitating toward all their containers and storage supplies. They are a genius for marketing this stuff because after shopping there you need to buy containers to store it all.
5. It's far enough away from home that I can't go there every week. Jerry is especially thankful for this!

Highlights of the trip: P.F. Changs which had the most delicious Kung Pao scallops ever! Of course after waiting an hour to be seated we decided fried donkey turd would taste acceptable. Shopping LEISURELY without children which for me is pretty rare, make that non-existant. Brenda's Baby Gap purchase which after it sells on eBay will help pay for the large (gulp!) chunk of change she dropped at Ikea. But for sure the number one highlight for me was great uninterrupted conversation with a dear friend. Good times, good times!!!

Love IKEA. I first fell in love in Seattle, then Chicago, then Minneapolis, and now Canton! Canton is a bit smaller but still gives me my consumerism fix. =)
