Yesterday I had a procedure done called Novasure Endometrial Ablation. This 90 second procedure basically detroys the lining of your uterus so that your monthly cycle becomes either non-existent or very light. I was really looking forward to having the procedure done b/c with the amount of tampons and pads I buy I could purchase a second home. Before leaving the house I had to take a vicoden and a valium (Jerry drove me of course!) and by the time I arrived at the doctor's office I was extremely relaxed! They gave me another shot of Motrin in my hip, and then we waited about 45 minutes to be called into the procedure room. I was given five shots of local anethesia on my cervix, and then the doctor put a camera (yes, a camera) up into my uterus. It was really amazing to see both fallopian tubes and the interior of my uterus. The next part, the actual endometrial ablation, was next. To put it mildly, this was honestly the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. The doctor puts a rod up into your uterus which then expands (see photo) and sends out an electric current to detroy the lining of your uterus. I actually passed out because the pain was so bad. When I came through it was done, thankfully, but then I got sick and threw up all over. I thought we'd be home by 3:30 or so, but we didn't make it home until 6 because I couldn't walk without throwing up. On the way home, Jerry had to stop at Quizno's, which I so did not appreciate, and then proceeded to eat his sub inside the restaurant while I waited, sick and cramping, in the car. Thoughts on this, ladies?!! I thought it was a bit insensitive. (To be fair, Jerry told me I had to write that he came home early to bring me to this appointment and hadn't eaten any lunch so he was starving.) Anyway, upon arriving home I went to bed. I wanted to sleep sooooo bad, but the cramps were killers! After midnight (and after 3 more Vicoden) I felt much better, and today I am feeling 99% better. Hooray for modern medicine!

That is just crazy! My SIL had it done and didn't feel a thing! I'm so sorry that you had to go through hell and back! Glad you are feeling better.
Oh Lynn, I seriously hope I NEVER had to go thru that procedure!! EEEK! Although I did have a HSG test once and passed out from the pain (they blow air into your fallopian tubes...horrid pain!)
