Staycation Part 2
Friday morning we found ourselves at the Deltaplex for the Kids' Expo. We haven't been to this event before, but the small advertisement for it showed lots of bouncy type castles so we knew it would be a hit with the kids. Which it was. There was a rock climbing wall, a bungee jump type contraption, a ferris wheel, carosoel, and lots of bouncy castles and slides. And of course, it didn't disappoint on the people watching either. I'm only going to make one comment....snakeskin pants are not complimentary on any body type. We saw a variety type show by a guy who rode about 7 different types of bikes. Unicycles, trick bikes, etc. It was pretty cool, and it was great to sit down for a while. We shared an elephant ear on the way out and left in a good mood. Success! You'll notice by the pictures that Flat Stanley followed us around alot. See Staycation Part 1 if you need an explanation for that.
Saturday we went to the new Kroc Center in Grand Rapids. They had a pretty fun swim area complete with a water slide and zero depth pool. I didn't even go in the water, and my eyes felt like they were being doused with acid from all the chlorine in the air. They also had a rock climbing wall which was fun to try, and a craft room. That day the craft was painting canvas backpacks that had been donated from a local bank. Claire and Erin spent about an hour in there and enjoyed being able to take their project home.
Sunday felt like summer! I knew that as soon as my kids saw the neighbor kids with the sprinkler outside, I knew that our sprinkler would be soon to follow. They entertained themselves quite a while with that, and then we headed to the park for some more play time. A great end to a fun week.
