Happy Boy on the edge of the pool. As long as he was warm, he was happy.
Going down the slide for the first time at swimming lessons. You can see the look of fear on his face.
A huge focus of the week was having your face in the water when swimming.
Ben took swimming lessons this week each day for 45 minutes. My friend's daughter did this last year, and it's known to be hard core swimming lessons...no kickng your legs while holding onto the side of the pool. The kids were literally thrown in the water. Ben started out being comfortable paddling around as long as the water wasn't over his head. The week ended with him jumping off the diving board into the deep end and being able to swim the length of the pool. We had a few tears early in the week...not so much because he was afraid of the water, but because the air and water temperature at 9:30 am wasn't that warm until the later part of the week. The promise of a Slushie each day is what got him through, and now he is very proud. We went to our pool this afternoon, and he went down the waterslide about 15 times and loved it. I'm thinking he's going to sleep well tonight.
