Fish Funeral

Yesterday we said goodbye to Sunrise Sytsma who was with us for only a mere week and a bit. I'm afraid that this probably won't be the last fish we bury. Today we went to PetSmart to find a new friend for Sunset Sytsma who still seems to be thriving. We came out with a similar type of fish, although we would have brought home a dog and cat if the kids had their way. When I told them that they can't even pick up after themselves, let alone a dog or cat, they immediately got to work when we arrived home. There was a fury of cleaning and organizing which lasted approximately 12 minutes...but I'll take it.

Just a "heads-up" they give out beta fish as "prizes" for the third grade reading contest. Kamryn "won" one last year and it's STILL with us!! (It even made the drive to Pella and back this summer!) It's got to be the heartiest fish I've ever seen.

I'm guessing Claire has out grown the liquid soap in the fish tank which is what ended our Beta Fishes life after 18months with us!! That was a couple years ago though! :) Glad one of them is still alive, fish aren't that 'easy' to take care of!

so you put the fish on ice, is this a new preserving method? hahaha
I would agree with the Beta fish, we had one at work that got ignored and it lived for 1 1/2 years....
But then you can't have any more fish to the tank....
hopefully the yard isn't filled with little rocks with names on it this summer!
