Kalahari

The kids had off from school the last few days, and we planned a trip to Sandusky, Ohio to Kalahari Waterpark. Kalahari is known for being one of the biggest indoor waterparks in the US, and it really was gigantic! We left early Thursday morning, arrived by noon, and left the resort around 1 pm on the Friday. Jerry had an event that he needed to go to that evening so at first we thought our time would be cut short, but it was PLENTY of time at the park. The girls loved all the various waterslides, but Ben would have been happy as a clam to sit in the hotel room the whole time and watch t.v. and play with his super turbo shield (see below). He's not into water that much and doesn't like getting his head wet, which made the rides he would go on few and far between. Let's just say he and Jerry floated down the Lazy River more than once!

Jerry and Erin coming down the Cheetah Race
Jerry body surfing. The wipe out occured about 10 seconds later when he attempted a full body roll.We called this ride the "toilet bowl." You go down a dark, spinning tube which spits you out into this bowl. You continue to spin to the bottom of the bowl where you fall about 6 feet into the pool of water below. The girls loved it. I decided to let them have all fun and sat this one out. Here you can just see Claire beginning to drop. They went so fast, I had a tough time getting a picture!

Ahhh yes, the infamous arcade where the kids played game after mindless game in the quest to earn tickets which were used to buy cheap trinkets that later go in the trash. (Yes, Ben is in his pajamas).
Erin with the best haul of the night: 150 tickets!

Here Erin is trying to decide what to "buy" with all her tickets, and Jerry is doing what he does best: being annoyed. :)
With our hotel package the girls were able to either stuff an animal or paint some pottery. Claire chose to stuff an African Elephant which she named Kalahari Sytsma.
Erin painted a fairy wand which they later fired in the kiln, and we picked up the day we left. It turned out very cute!
Erin crossing the lily pads and hippos. This was one of her favorites.
Chillaxin' by the wave pool
Ben with his "super turbo shield" which was the lid to the ice bin.
I think beds in hotel rooms almost scream to be jumped upon. My kids were happy to oblige.
