Disneyworld
There is a place that I would like to create...a place for mommies and daddies to go to detox for at least 72 hours after being in Disneyworld with children. Actually, I think this place may exist. It's a Sandals resort on some tropical island where I am waited on, and the only walking I have to do is from my beach chair to the water and back. All kidding aside our trip was fantastic, and aside from the few minor meltdowns, the kids did great! Jerry and I picked Claire and Erin up from school at about 9am Wednesday morning after telling them they would be going to the dentist. As we walked out of school Jerry had the video camera on them. Jerry knew I hadn't told them yet when Claire insisted that Jerry stop videotaping her. We then told them that we weren't going to the dentist, but that instead we were going to Disney. Claire sat there for a moment with no response, and Erin replied with, "No, we're going to the dentist!" After they processed it for a few minutes it was nothing but ear to ear smiles all the way to the airport. We spent three very full days hopping between the four Disney Parks. On our final day we spent some time at our hotel pool, shopped a little bit in Downtown Disney, and then went back to Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Not-So-Scary-Halloween-Party which still qualified as scary in Ben's definition and maybe a little bit in mine. The kids were able to dress up in their costumes and trick or treat through the park. Even though the lines were never horrible during our stay, the night of the Halloween party was perfect because there were no lines for any rides. A couple things I discovered on our trip: 1. Erin is a daredevil. She went on Space Mountain three times. After getting off each time she would burst into tears, but then insist on doing it again. 2. We will not be able to bring Ben to any fireworks display until he is probably into his teen years. He was terrified of the fireworks which he witnessed two nights in a row. We were riding Dumbo one evening when the fireworks started exploding directly above our heads. He shook he was so scared, and then promptly fell asleep in his stroller from the exhaustion of it all. 3. Ben covers his ears when anything is remotely scary or if it's not scary at all, but Ben thinks it is. It doesn't matter if it has to do with noise or not. You'll notice this on the pictures. 4. Claire is growing up. We had two strollers with us which Ben and Erin sat in 99% of the time. Claire huffed it though the parks and did not complain a bit. I'm sure we walked miles each day. I can't imagine doing it during the summer heat. So, do I recommend Disney? Yes, I loved it. It's clean, the shows/rides are fun for adults and kids, the parades are amazing, there's a variety of food choices, the people are friendly and helpful...Now, if only I would win the Lotto to help pay for it all!
